Central UMC’s combined choirs and orchestra of 66 members invite you to experience a unique roots music Christmas cantata by composer Pepper Choplin. Choplin is widely celebrated for original anthems that resonate with traditional folk qualities. Inspired by his best-selling Appalachian-style anthem of the same name Choplin has crafted a stylized Christmas cantata that includes several authentic Appalachian instruments and folk qualities.

Join us beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Don Gibson Theatre as we celebrate and sendoff the Smithsonian New Harmonies exhibit. Images, stories and music will be shared as well as thanks and recognition of all those who helped make it happen.

Then join us as we process from the theatre led by RJ Grady Highland Bagpiper to the future home of the Earl Scruggs Center:Music & Stories of the Carolina Foothills. Kazoos, tambourines, harmonicas and clappers will be provided to the first 95 people.
